What About the Arrival of the Wookiee Jedi?

Kelnacca is now shipping from Amazon and is in stock there and Walmart! So is our first wookiee jedi worth it at 33.99?

I’ll admit I was on the fence about this one. Our last new wookiee was Krrsantan who started off at $33.99 and was eventually seen as low at $10. We’ve seen a few other Acolyte figures drop down to the range of $7-14. But in the end I was more excited about finally having a wookiee jedi in my collection!

Right out of the box, he looks amazing – the sculpting of the fur and the gradients in the color. Like with other Acolyte figures, the detail in the Jedi belt and tunic is very well done. The outer soft goods robe has a decent flow. I will say this: in trying to take off the robe, it seemed a little too tight on the upper arms/torso of the figure, so be careful when taking it off.

Another flaw that’s harder to see is that the right hand seems a lot smaller than the left hand and much smaller than Krrsantan’s right hand. 501st set did hint that we saw a part that could be for Gungi. Is this a hand that was meant for him? It’s not a deal breaker, but for $33.99, I wish more attention to sizing and proportions would factor in.

On the plus side, they addressed the height problem many saw in Krrsantan. He is taller than Krrsantan and Zaalbar (I used his body to make a grown Gungi). I will also note it does look like he is all new parts as far as I can tell. It does look like his fur patterns are significantly different than Krrsantans. He does have an appropriately sized lightsaber. See how it compares to the larger saber for Darth Malgus.

So with two different new wookiee bodies and Hasbro’s history of reuse and repaints, I would hope that we see more wookiees come to the line. I’d love a Burryaga from the High Republic era, maybe Tarfful the wookiee chieftain from Revenge of the Sith and Jedi Fallen Order. I still would love to see Gungi made, even though he is much smaller. Even Kelnacca’s earlier high Republic outfit could be done!
