The Acolyte Canceled, then Erased
If you are an Acolyte fan, brace yourself for another blow to the fandom. Right on the heel of word that Disney has canceled the Acolyte series and will not get a second season comes the revelation that The Disney Store has removed all merchandise relating to the show.
A quick search for “The Acolyte” on The Disney Store site yields no items – not even any Star Wars items. If you do a Google search for The Acolyte and The Disney Store and click on any product links, you get the same results.
What is bizarre is that these items never made it to clearance, just removed. What does this mean for future Acolyte products? Several Hasbro items are up for preorder, and the estimated arrival is 2025. Three other figures are pipelined for the TVC and Black Series lines. Will these pipelined figures make it to production or never see the light of day? Many collectors have been asking for a figure of the villain of the show known as The Stranger/Qimir. Although a role-play item has been up for preorder, no word on an upcoming figure is known. It harkens back to the reception of the sequel films when many pipelined figures never saw the light of day. Three of them were a Jedi Training Luke and Leia, as well as a Luke Skywalker from the Battle of Crait. The Battle of Crait Luke even had box artwork revealed but never made it to preorder.
Will we get this line completed, or will they only live on in the hands of customizers?
The other confusing element of the Acolyte cancelation begs the question of the status of any other content related to the show. Several tie-in books were announced at the D23 expo. Will this be a way for the series to continue, or will these get canceled/removed as well? The books are currently available for preorder via Amazon, but anything can change.
