Choose the Darkside: Darth Revan Helmet Review

The Darth Revan helmet from Jazwares has started to ship via Gamestop. Jazwares joins several other official roleplay items. Lots of questions to answer for this one.
At first glance, it looks really good, especially in the packaging. If you are an in-box collector, this one is great for display. When taking it out of the box, be aware that the cloth is attached to the plastic insert.
Right out of the box, my first thoughts were that it’s pretty lightweight without feeling flimsy. It fits better than both of my Black Series Mandalorian helmets.
Upon deeper inspection, is it somewhere in between Black Series and a Rubies costume helmet. The paint is on the faceplate is decent. The rest of the helmet is a metallic gray plastic. It’s not the best, but for the price point, more paint was expected.
It also does not have any electronics or inside details like Black Series helmets. That might be why it fits so much better than a Black Series helmet. I do know of a few cosplayers who have taken out the inside helmet details of a Black Series helmet to either help with the fit or even add a fan or voice changer. This helmet leaves plenty of room for that.
This does come with soft good to give a hooded look for Revan which is nice. It does look detachable via snaps.
Is it a Black Series killer? Certainly not. Most new Black Series helmets have been priced around $120-$134 with reissues of the BS helmets coming in at $100. The new preorder of the helmet for the Acolyte’s Stranger did start at $100. For being $40-55 less than a Black Series Mandalorian style helmet, it’s not a bad option for a budget cosplay. Would I buy another Jazwares helmet? Perhaps I’d love their take on a Jedi Temple Guard.

Jazwares is also Making a Revan costume, but that looks to be a screen-printed robe. They also made a premium cosplay Darth Vader suit, which does include a variety of electronics.
