Ahsoka the White has Arrived!
Ahsoka the White has arrived at the turn of the tide! So far, it’s a decent figure. This is an all-new sculpt, which is both refreshing and surprising given that the previous version of the live-action Ahsoka was used five times. So what’s different between Ahsoka the White and Ahsoka the Grey?
Height is the biggest difference from the get-go. The newest Ahsoka is significantly shorter than the original. The head sculpt is much better than the original version from Season 2 of The Mandalorian. This one really captures Rosario Dawson’s look. Her lekku are longer than the original figure, which does reflect the change they did from the Mandalorian and Ahsoka show versions. She has new feet and armor. You can also tell the differences in design in the belt pieces.
Her Lightsabers are the same sculpt as the previous version and hook onto her belt. The only difference is that these have more paint apps.
Overall she does keep a lot of the same articulation on her torso, and even with the hard piece lekku you can still move her head around.
I do have two complaints about the figure. The first complaint is that when they redesigned her legs, they removed the thigh swivel. With all figures that have lost the thigh swivel – and especially this one – the range of motion is reduced significantly. The previous version was hard to pose already due to the “bagginess” of her pants. I believe the lack of a thigh swivel takes this figure from an 8 out of 10 to probably a 6 out of 10. But if you were only getting one Ahsoka, I’d get this one – mostly because of the face sculpt.
I truly wish Hasbro would work on increasing and improving articulation with Star Wars rather than decreasing it. It is the only line of theirs that seems to be going backward.
My second complaint is the lack of a soft goods cloak. With the grey version – although it was released 5 times – only one version included her cloak. It was in a “deluxe” three pack that was overpriced, in my opinion. This version is clearly lacking a soft goods cloak, despite the fact that Ahsoka the White had her cloak on for the majority of the episodes in the second half of the season. It is upsetting, as soft goods overall have been more common in recent releases than before. Five out of the 6 Acolyte figures had a soft goods robe. Mae was the most complex figure, with lots of tooling and accessories, as well as paint apps, and she still came with a soft goods robe. Baylan and Shin got reissues recently with soft goods and the Glavis Ring World Mandalorian has a soft goods cape. Given Hasbro’s business model of reuse and reissues of figures, I would not be surprised if we get at least one more version of Ashoka the White with a cloak and at a “deluxe” price.
